The story
Manduka is an equipment-focused starting point for a home or studio setup. Its mat range includes PRO, eKO and GRP Adapt, but those names describe different constructions rather than a simple good-better-best ladder. The 6 mm PRO uses PVC, the 5 mm eKO uses natural rubber, and the 5 mm GRP Adapt combines a polyurethane surface with natural rubber in an open-cell design. The brand also offers towels, blocks, straps and bolsters. Start with the surface and material you want, then check the exact size, weight and cleaning routine before deciding which model belongs in your practice space.
Manduka was founded in 1997 by Peter Sterios, a yoga instructor and architect. In its own account, the brand traces its early growth to mats he shared with teachers and says its name honors his teacher Shandor Remete through a reference to the frog pose, Mandukasana.

Editorial recommendation: consider Manduka if you want to compare several mat constructions and buy practice props from one equipment range. Choose between the specific models according to material, transport and maintenance preferences; we do not recommend one series as universally better.
Check the exact model and length, not only the series name. The standard mats listed here have different weights and cleaning instructions; eKO and GRP also have natural-rubber and latex-related disclosures to review. Follow the current model-specific care guidance.
