Your information

Privacy policy

How YogaLists handles information when you read our guides, search the directory, save a cookie choice or follow an external link.

1. What this policy covers

YogaLists is an independently operated yoga discovery and editorial website based in the United Kingdom. This policy covers the YogaLists website, not the practices of the brands, creators or other services we link to. Operator and contact information is set out below.

We publish directories, articles and dated brand-offer information. We do not sell products, take bookings, operate reader accounts or process payments. There are currently no newsletter sign-ups, reader comments, contact-submission forms or reader file uploads. Please do not put medical, financial or other sensitive personal information into the site search.

2. Information used to deliver the website

Opening a web page necessarily sends connection information to the server handling the request. This can include an IP address, the requested address and query string, request time, browser and device headers, and an error or response code. This information is used to deliver pages and images, diagnose faults and protect the service.

The application does not create reader accounts, a visitor-profile database or a custom visitor analytics log. That does not mean a web server, network or hosting provider never receives or records connection information. Hosting-provider log settings, processing locations and retention periods have not yet been confirmed for a public deployment; this policy does not promise a particular hosting location or automatic log-deletion period.

4. Cookies and your choices

We currently install no analytics or advertising trackers. After you explicitly save a cookie choice, the first-party cookie yogalists_cookie_choice remembers that choice for up to 180 days. It contains a choice, format version and saved/expiry timestamps, with necessary storage enabled and analytics and marketing disabled. It contains no name, email address, IP address or unique visitor identifier.

Accepting the current choices does not authorise future tracking. You can revisit Cookie settings in the footer or delete the cookie in your browser. If cookies cannot be saved, the choice is held only in the current page's memory. The application does not use localStorage or sessionStorage to create a visitor profile. See the Cookie notice for the full inventory, duration and controls.

5. Why information is used

Where information is personal data and UK data-protection law applies, the purposes and bases for the current limited processing are:

  • Page delivery, search responses, fault diagnosis and security: legitimate interests in operating a working, secure editorial website. Connection details are needed for the requested page to reach your browser.
  • Remembering an explicitly requested cookie preference: legitimate interests in respecting and retaining your privacy choice. The preference-storage function is separate from permission for optional tracking; no optional trackers are currently active.
  • Public professional profiles and their source records: legitimate interests in providing a useful, attributed directory and keeping information accurate, with attention to the individual's rights.
  • Handling a rights request or a binding legal requirement: compliance with applicable legal obligations where required; otherwise the legitimate interest in addressing a genuine enquiry. There is no contact-submission feature at present.

You are not required by a contract to provide search text or save a cookie preference to read our pages. We do not use this information for behavioural advertising, credit decisions or automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

6. Creator profiles and public sources

Our editorial records include professional names, public biographies, teaching topics, official account links and source-attributed images of featured creators. Sources are identified in the relevant profile or article and can include official public websites, channels, interviews and published reporting. We do not treat public availability as permission to collect unrelated private information.

The editorial database and revision history retain the material used to prepare and correct the directory. They are not a database of readers' browsing, purchases or saved cookie preferences. A person featured in the directory may raise a privacy or accuracy concern; data-protection rights can apply to professional information too. See the Operator & contact section below for the current contact information.

7. Recipients and external websites

Information needed to deliver a request is handled by the site's operator and the infrastructure serving that request. The operator's authorised service providers may handle it only for the relevant service, security or legal purpose. We may disclose information when required by a binding legal obligation or when necessary and lawful to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We do not sell reader data, disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising or share a reader mailing list; there is no mailing-list feature.

Brand stores, creator websites, YouTube and other linked services apply their own privacy rules once you visit them. Their servers receive your connection information, and they may use cookies or require an account. Our external editorial links use referrer-restricting link attributes, but that does not make a visit to the destination anonymous. No social-media player is automatically embedded here.

Cashback Rank is a separate website run by the same operator as YogaLists. Common ownership does not make its privacy controls part of this site's Cookie settings. Linking to it does not activate cashback or transfer a saved cookie choice to it.

8. Images and other technical services

Most directory images, logos and editorial illustrations are served from local site files. The image configuration also permits Unsplash images through the site's image-optimisation service. An image request still requires connection information at the service delivering it; an upstream image provider can receive a request from the optimisation server. We do not claim that every image is free of external infrastructure.

There are currently no third-party advertising scripts, analytics tags, remote web fonts or automatic video players in the application. If optional services are introduced, their providers, purposes, storage and consent controls must be described before they are activated.

9. How long information is kept

The saved preference cookie expires up to 180 days after your explicit save, unless you delete it earlier. A later explicit change creates a new preference and expiry. Your browser controls its own history and cache.

Editorial profiles, sources and correction history are retained while needed to support the published directory, resolve accuracy or rights concerns and document relevant decisions. Retention must be reviewed against those purposes; publication is not a justification for keeping unrelated personal information indefinitely. Legal preservation requirements may justify keeping a relevant record for longer.

The application defines no separate retention schedule for reader search histories because it does not store such histories in the content database. Any infrastructure request logs have a separate retention lifecycle. Their actual provider and configured period need to be confirmed before a public deployment; the cookie's 180-day lifetime is not the retention period for server logs.

10. International processing

YogaLists is operated from the United Kingdom, but that alone does not establish where a future hosting provider or image service processes every request. No claim is made that all information remains in the UK or EEA. The public hosting arrangement and any restricted transfers need to be confirmed before deployment.

Where the operator makes a restricted international transfer, an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and any required safeguards must be in place, with information available about them. This policy does not claim that a particular adequacy decision, agreement or safeguard has already been selected. Independently visiting a linked overseas website is subject to that website's own processing and policies.

11. Your rights and complaints

Depending on the law and circumstances, you may have rights to access personal data, correct it, request erasure or restriction, and receive portable data where that right applies. You may also withdraw consent to processing based on consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. These rights are not all unconditional. We may need proportionate information to identify the relevant record and verify a request; do not send identity documents unless a secure, necessary request for them has been explained.

You have a right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, including the use of public professional information, for reasons relating to your situation. There is no direct-marketing programme to opt out of. Cookie settings let you change this site's saved preference without contacting anyone.

See Operator & contact below for the current contact information. A missing contact route does not remove your rights or our duties. Requests must be handled within the applicable legal timeframe, subject to lawful extensions or exceptions. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or another competent supervisory authority without first agreeing to these terms.

12. Children and security

The site is written for a general adult audience, not directed at children under 13, and provides no child accounts or child-targeted data-collection forms. Do not submit a child's personal information through search. See Operator & contact below to raise a concern about a child's information in an editorial record.

We use proportionate technical and organisational measures for the current application, including a restricted local editorial workspace. No website or transmission method is guaranteed secure. Do not send sensitive information through the search box. The preference cookie is not an authentication token, security certificate or protection against every online risk.

13. Changes to this policy

The date above identifies this policy version. Material changes in data collection, providers or purpose must be reflected here. A policy update is not consent to a new optional tracker, and saving a cookie choice is not an acceptance of the Terms of use. See also our Terms of use, Cookie notice and Editorial policy.
